Have you ever stopped to consider how vital cleanliness and sanitation is for food and beverage manufacturers? From wine to meat to dairy products, companies need to maintain strict policies at their facilities to protect consumers from bacteria and other contaminants. Such maintenance requires specialized industrial cleaning equipment, sanitizing solutions, and water reuse & recovery systems.
Enter local business Hotsy Pacific. For over 30 years, they have been the “go to” company for smart, cost-effective solutions designed to improve productivity, reduce labor costs, and deliver the necessary results, serving hundreds of wineries, breweries, food manufacturers, ag businesses and more throughout the Tri-County area, Bay Area, and the Napa & Sonoma Valleys.
Solutions for Success
Privately owned and operated by Jim and Karen O’Connell, the company started selling and servicing industrial cleaning equipment in 1987. Hotsy Pacific is headquartered in Modesto with satellite stores and service centers in Hayward and Santa Rosa.
“Customers often ask, what’s the source of your success?” says Jim. “I say our team, many of whom have been here for 10+ years. When people visit, they remark on how much we’re like a big family – an atmosphere we work hard to maintain. From factory-certified technicians to expert customer service reps, everyone is committed to going the extra mile for our clients. We know that they can’t afford production down time.”
Jim smiles as he notes that many companies don’t realize Hotsy Pacific is so much more than equipment. “They often see us as the seller of pressure washers, steam cleaners, tank and barrel cleaners, and floor scrubbers. Yet we carry the largest selection of parts, accessories, detergents, and rentals. Plus we service and repair all brands, not just what we sell.”
Knowing what to choose that’s right for the job takes expertise, and Jim explains that is another critical element in Hotsy Pacific’s success equation. “We want clients to have the right equipment that produces the results they need. Anyone can sell equipment; we deliver solutions. We’ll review a client’s situation, and tailor recommendations to their needs and budgets.”
Michael Coleman, Sales & Marketing Manager offers an example. “The Tom Beard Company is recognized for producing the most advanced machinery solutions for washing and processing in the wine industry. They had a piece of complex new equipment that wouldn’t perform up to standard. We assessed the situation, made recommendations, and collaborated with them to redesign and test the equipment to deliver the best results for their customers.” Other area clients, to name a few, include E&J Gallo Winery, Delicato Family Vineyards, Foster Farms, and Crystal Creamery.
A growing segment of their business involves water reuse and recovery. “Water management is becoming increasingly regulated,” explains Michael. “We have water recovery systems that can capture up to 75% of waste water, and treatment and filtration systems that will remove pollutants from wash water to avoid contaminating well water, lakes and streams. We find an increasing number of companies taking a proactive approach to sustainability and water management, and are proud to support those efforts.”
A Growing Business
In September, Hotsy Pacific relocated to downtown Modesto. The new 14,000 square feet location is 25% larger, and will enable the company to better serve their clients with a larger showroom, an even bigger selection of equipment, and an expanding customer service team.
“The new showroom allows us to carry on site a wide range of equipment so that customers can come in and actually see and handle the units, ask questions and select what is right for their needs,” says Michael. “You’d be surprised at all the types of industries that need industrial cleaning solutions. We also work with transportation, construction, municipalities, waste management and marine companies, among others.”
Being part of the community is a core pillar of the O’Connell’s’ business philosophy, and they encourage a civic-minded attitude among employees, as well as supporting various organizations throughout the region. This is also captured in paint. The new location features a full-sized mural by local artist Tom Nye, showcasing Stanislaus County and beyond – with some added features that may surprise visitors.
“It’s all about doing the best we can for our customers,” says Jim. “They put their trust in us to solve their problems, and have for over 30 years, and we’re here for their future.” Learn more at HotsyPacific.net.
